CHED-MARINA visit PUI BSMT Program

The monitoring team of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) jointly conducted a visit to Panpacific University’s BS Marine Transportation Program in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan on August 5 to 8, 2025.
The purpose of the said visit was to ensure compliance with the policies, standards, and guidelines for maritime education as offered by the institution, per Joint CHED-MARINA Memorandum Circular (JCMMC) No. 1, series of 2022, as amended.
Mr. Herbert Nalupa, Ch/Officer Ramices Vadillo, Mr. Eric Eisa Estabillo, Dr. Myrelle Faith Mina, and Mr. Brian Uy, composed the CHED-MARINA Monitoring Team.
The results of the mentioned evaluation were discussed with the Maritime Higher Education Institution (MHEI) Officials.

CHED RO1 conducts monitoring visit at WCC ATC

CHED Regional Office 1 Education Supervisors visited WCC Aeronautical & Technological College in Binalonan, Pangasinan for monitoring of their programs last August 12, 2025.
The supervisors examined the HEI’s compliance with the minimum requirements on curricular offerings per CHED Memorandum Orders.
Mr. Arnold Ancheta looked into the BS Tourism Management program of the institution, as well as areas in Student Affairs Services (SAS) and NSTP. Mr. Ancheta also made an ocular inspection of the facilities, including the library and learning spaces of the institution.
The aviation-related programs covering Avionics Technology, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Airline Operations Management, Commercial Flying, and Aeronautical Engineering were evaluated by Engr. Leonora Quarte, who also looked into the Gender and Development (GAD) structure of the institution.
Dr. Roger A. Martinez Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the dean and heads of the different programs were present for the entirety of the evaluation and accommodated the different queries of the education supervisors.
The supervisors presented the results of the evaluation during the exit conference, where they shared their observations and gave their recommendations to further enhance the institution’s thrust on the delivery of quality education.

CHED RO1 launches MOOC Virtual Camps for English Proficiency

Around 172 faculty members and students from Region I Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) participated in the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Virtual Camps officially launched by CHED Regional Office 1 on August 11, 2025.
This activity, which runs until September 19, 2025, is in partnership with the American English Alumni Association of the Philippines, Inc. and the Regional English Language Office, US Embassy in Manila.
The five-week program offers three specialized tracks: Camp 1: English as a Medium of Instruction, Camp 2: English for Tourism Professionals, and Camp 3: English for Career Developmentβ€”all delivered for free with certificates from U.S. government-sponsored MOOCs through the Online Professional English Network (OPEN).
The virtual sessions will be conducted via Zoom and the OPEN using the Canvas learning management system.
