CHEDRO1 Joins RISE 1
Engr. Leonora Quarte, Education Supervisor II of CHEDROI served as one of the plenary speakers in the Regional ICT Summit and Exhibitions in Region 1 (RISE 1) at Plaza del Norte Hotel and Convention Center, Laoag City, on November 22, 2024.
Engr. Quarte discussed how academe and industry can collaborate on curriculum and skills development for students in higher education institutions.
Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Undersecretary for ICT Industry Development, served as the keynote speaker during the said event. She highlighted the role of ICT councils in local communities and the growing trend of “Work From Anywhere” (WFA). Atty. Batapa-Sigue also mentioned that the region has ICT councils and digital cities supported by telecommunication providers and encouraged collaboration to create digital jobs. She stressed that the region can “MAGIC” β Make the Academe, Government, and Industry Collaborate.
The program was hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) under the Office of the Undersecretary for ICT Industry Development (OUIID) to promote countryside development through ICT integration.
The summit featured three plenary sessions: Strengthening the Business Environment, Talent Development and Digital Workforce, and Synergy for Success. Speakers from national government agencies, higher education institutions, and industry sectors participated as panelists.
RISE 1 was attended by representatives from national government agencies, local government units, private industry partners, and ICT faculty and students from various higher education institutions in the region.
