CHEDRO1 joins GPB Training-Workshop

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 attended the North and South Luzon Cluster Gender and Development Planning and Budgeting (GPB) Training-Workshop organized by the Gender and Development Unit of the Commission on Higher Education at The Oracle Hotel and Residences, Quezon City on November 25-26, 2024.
The two-day training aimed to help the GAD Focal Point System draft their annual GPB within the context of their mandates to mainstream a gender perspective in their policies, programs, and projects.
Renifer R. Francisco, LLB, MPA, DPA, President Gender Empowerment Consultancy and Advocacy Firm, and Philippine Commission on Women, National Gender and Development Resource Program (PCW-NGRP) Batch 4, served as the resource speaker.
The first day of the training focused on policy imperatives, GAD planning and budgeting (GPB) updates, and writeshop. The second day of the event was filled with lively interactions and sharing among and between the participants.
Representatives from the various regions presented their proposed GPB which was critiqued by the resource speaker and there were also sharing of best practices among the regions. During the afternoon session, Dr. Francisco continued with the discussion of GAD accomplishment report and common Commission on Audit Gender and Development audit requirements.
Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director IV of CHEDRO1 and Co-chair of the CHED GAD Focal Committee, warmly welcomed the participants during the first day of the event. Director Ferrer also inspired the participants during the closing remarks to continue spearheading the Gender and Development advocacy and be part of the global top ranking HEIs in delivering SDG 5.
CHED Region 1 was represented by Engr. Angelica Q. Dolores, GAD Focal Person and Supervising Education Program Specialist, and Dr. Maria Carmela L. Domocmat, Education Supervisor II.
The training workshop was participated by the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) and the Gender Focal Persons from CHED Regional Offices and State Colleges and Universities in Region I, Region II, Region III, Region IV, Region V, MIMAROPA, CAR, and NCR.
