13 HEIs secure spots in 17 SDG Categories of Times Higher Education Impact Rankings

Thirteen (13) higher education institutions (HEIs) in Region 1 secured placements in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, with entries across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has consistently maintained its overall ranking within the 601–800 band since 2023. MMSU is the first state university in the region to be included in THE Impact Rankings in 2022, which started to enter the ranking within the 401-600 band.
Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) also showed progress, improving its overall standing from the 1501+ bracket in 2024 to the 1001–1500 band in 2025.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, a required SDG among the internationally-ranked HEIs in THE IR, emerged as the most represented goal, with 13 institutions ranked from the region.
The region also recorded 12 R1 HEIs listed in the rankings for SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4 – Quality Education.
Meanwhile, four (4) HEIs in Region 1 earned spots under SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, with only 26 HEIs nationwide qualified under this SDG.
Region 1 saw an addition of five (5) new HEIs in the 2025 cycle.
Overall, the region boasts ranked institutions in all 17 SDG categories.
