CHED RO1 evaluates UniFAST funds liquidation reports of ISPSC

The UniFAST Regional Coordinators from CHED ROI conducted an evaluation of the submitted liquidation reports of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College campuses in Candon City and Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur on January 28, 2025.

The coordinators reviewed the released checks and downloaded funds for the following UniFAST programs: Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP).

Ms. Lorebel S. Domingo, ISPSC registrar, and Dr. Ricci Gammad, ISPSC’s UniFAST Focal, assisted the coordinators throughout the activity.

The coordinators mentioned that the ISPSC employees’ cooperation ensured that the evaluation process was smooth and efficient, allowing for the thorough examination and proper documentation of the liquidation reports.

CHED RO1 conducts validation visit at UCC

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I conducted a validation visit at the Union Christian College (UCC) relative to the its application for Government Recognition to operate Levels I-IV of the Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management and the Bachelor of Science in Information System programs, effective SY 2025-2026, in the City of San Fernando, La Union on January 24, 2025.

Dr. Ricky A. Cera, Mr. Albert H. Subang, Education Supervisors, facilitated the documentary evaluation and inspection of the HEI’s facilities including its gender and development program.

Dr. Myrelle Faith D. Mina, Education Supervisor, joined the duo as she also monitored the tuition and other school fees of UCC.

Rev. Dr. Ferdinand Anno, UCC President, together with the other HEI officials, welcomed the team through a short program conducted prior to the evaluation.

The visit ended with an exit conference wherein the results of the validation were shared with the school officials.

CHED ROI conducts validation, monitoring visits at PSU- San Carlos Campus

To ensure the continuous quality and compliance of various academic programs of Pangasinan State University – San Carlos Campus, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHEDRO1) education supervisors conducted validation and regular monitoring visits on January 28, 2025.

The validation visits assessed the curriculum, faculty, facilities, and overall program effectiveness for COPC compliance.

Dr. Ricky A. Cera led the validation visit for the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management program, while Mr. Arnold V. Ancheta evaluated the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management program.

Moreover, regular monitoring visits were conducted for multiple programs, including the Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Education programs, assessed by Dr. Mitchellene V. Rivo, Dr. Al Gerald S. Barde for the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education program, and Mr. Albert H. Subang for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program.

Key officials of PSU-San Carlos Campus, led by Campus Executive Director Dr. Liza L. Quimson, were present to provide the necessary documentation and facilitate discussions with the CHED ROI supervisors

The PSU administration expressed its gratitude to CHED ROI for their continuous support and guidance in fostering educational development.

The findings and recommendations from the visit will serve as a foundation for further improvements of the university’s academic programs.

LGU Bacnotan, CHED RO1 discuss plans for establishing LUC

The local government unit (LGU) of Bacnotan representatives visited the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHED RO1) to explore the possibility of establishing a local college on January 27, 2025.
Dr. Sol T. Jomaya, Education Consultant, presented the intent of LGU Bacnotan and its education plans to Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, CHED RO1 Director IV.
To further discuss the CHED policies, guidelines, and standards on the establishment of an LUC and engage with the municipal officials and stakeholders, the two parties agreed on a scheduled meeting in Bacnotan.

RD Ferrer shared benchmarking practices in higher education

Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director IV of CHED Regional Office 1 emphasized the function of benchmarking in enhancing educational quality during the plenary session on Raising the Bar: Benchmarking as a Pathway to Educational Quality via Zoom, on January 25, 2025.
Dr. Ferrer discussed various types of benchmarking, data sources, addressed the connection between benchmarking, quality assurance and internationalization, and its impact on international ranking metrics.
Furthermore, she provided an overview of the benchmarking activities conducted by CHED ROI and various higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region.
The event was organized by the College of Education of Tarlac Agricultural University, Centro Escolar University, Pangasinan State University, and the Philippine Society for Quality.

CHED RO1 Distributes stipends to 716 TDP grantees at NCC

The CHED Regional Office I distributed stipends to 716 Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) grantees on January 24, 2025 at Northern Christian College (NCC) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The said event, funded under the initiative of Hon. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, reinforced the government’s commitment to making higher education accessible and equitable for deserving students.
The Commission released a total amount of β‚±5,370,000.00, in the said institution for Data Center College of the Philippines and NCC TDP grantees with each of them receiving β‚±7,500 per semester.
The said stipends covered the 2nd Semester of SY 2023-2024, enabling students to focus on their academic endeavors without the financial burden.
Dr. Lucris Carina Agnir-Paraan, President of Northern Christian College, extended a warm welcome to the grantees and to the staff from the Office of Hon. Marcos.
She emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping their future and contributing to nation-building.

CHED RO1 distributes stipends to 384 TDP Grantees at Northwestern University

The CHED RO1 distributed stipends to 384 Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) grantees on January 24, 2025, at Northwestern University in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Funded under the TDP initiative of Honorable Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, student-grantees were able to claim their stipends amounting to 7,500.00 for each semester.
The Commission released a total of Php 2,865,000.00, which covered the stipends for the 2nd Semester of SY 2023-2024 to grantees from various municipalities of the 1st District of Ilocos Norte.

To kick off the year with more innovative and impactful projects and programs, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHED RO1) set its goals for 2025 through a three-day Strategic Planning session at the CHED RO1 Conference Room, City of San Fernando, La Union on January 13-15, 2025.
