CHEDRO1 hosts 35th NSM Regional Stat Quiz
On its second year of hosting the National Statistics Month (NSM) Regional Statistics Quiz, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHEDROI) witnessed the statistical prowess of the four (4) competing teams representing the four provinces in the region.
The event started with a virtual opening message from Dr. Christine Ferrer, Director IV of CHED ROI, who quoted Edward Deming, stating that without data, all we have is an opinion.
βIn the academe, we do not live on opinions because facts and truths are the pedals for learning,β Dr. Ferrer emphasized.
The morning session featured the stat battle among four teams competing at the secondary level, namely: La Union Cultural Institute (La Union), Teodoro Hernaez National High School (Ilocos Sur), Bingao National High School (Ilocos Norte), and Alaminos National High School (Pangasinan).
After three rounds, Alaminos National High School emerged as the champion of the stat quiz.
The statistics quiz bee for the tertiary level was held in the afternoon and was participated in by the winning schools from the provincial eliminations, namely: Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus (La Union), University of Northern Philippines (Ilocos Sur), Mariano Marcos State University (Ilocos Norte), and Kingfisher School of Business and Finance (Pangasinan).
Kingfisher School of Business and Finance, the lone private higher education institution, scored the most points after the three rounds of the quiz and was declared the champion.
Engr. Angelica Dolores, CHEDROI Supervising Education Program Specialist, congratulated all the participating teams for ably representing their respective provinces and expressed her gratitude to the collaborating agencies that sponsored the event.
Ms. Mellen Borja (PSA RSSOI), Engr. Divino Amor Rivera (PSA RSSOI), Dr. Milagros Baldemor (PSAI Ilocos Chapter), and Engr. Angelica Dolores (CHEDROI) composed the board of judges for the said stat quiz.
The tertiary statistics quiz was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, PSA Regional Statistical Services 1, and the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I.
