CHEDRO1 supervisors attend UPSKILL, MIT D-Lab workshop

The U.S.-Philippines Partnership for Skills, Innovation and Lifelong Learning (UPSKILL), in coordination with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Development Lab (MIT D-Lab) conducted a Co-Creation Workshop for Region 1 at St. Giles Hotel, Makati City on November 18-20, 2024.
UPSKILL’s workshop marked the first collaboration between the Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee – Region 1 (RRDIC-1), with CHED Regional Office I as a member, and Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International for the said program.
The three-day training guided key stakeholders from government, higher education, and the private sector through a co-creation process to support the growth of regional innovation ecosystems. The outputs from the sessions will be used to create a blueprint for ecosystem innovation development in the region, including training and workshops to foster sustainable business, technology, and research.
Facilitated by the UPSKILL Team and led by Dr. Libby McDonald, Inclusive Economies Program and Innovation Practice Group Lead at MIT D-Lab, the workshop brought together participants from regional offices of national government agencies—NEDA, DA, CHED, DOST, and DTI—as well as faculty members and research/innovation staff from various higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region, including ISPSC, MMSU, PSU, and SLC.
CHEDROI Education Supervisors, Dr. Maria Carmela Domocmat and Engr. Leonora Quarte, attended the said UPSKILL training.
