R1TEAC holds 4th Coordination Meeting
The Region 1 Teacher Education Advisory Council (R1TEAC), in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Education (DepEd), successfully conducted its 4th Coordination Meeting at the DepEd Regional Office 1 Conference Hall in San Vicente, City of San Fernando, La Union, and via Zoom on November 22, 2024.
The meeting focused on the preparation for the 3rd Teacher Education Institution Convergence and the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for Field Studies and Teacher Internship.
The discussions included the drafting of resolutions for policy recommendations on the following:
– Updating the MOA for field studies and practice teaching
– Integrating beginning reading for elementary and developmental reading for secondary education
– The National Service Training Program—Literacy Training Service, with an emphasis on integrating early literacy and numeracy into teacher education programs.
DepEd Assistant Regional Director Dr. Rhoda Razon graced the event, emphasizing the role of R1TEAC in advancing the education sector.
Dr. Mitchellene Vigilia-Rivo, Education Supervisor II of CHED RO1, and Dr. Ritchie Macalanda, Education Supervisor of the DepEd RO1 Field Technical Assistance Division, presided over the meeting.
