R1TEAC, R1 TEIs converge for quality pre-service education
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 1 reinforced its commitment to quality pre-service education by collaborating with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Region 1 Teacher Education Advisory Council (R1TEAC) during the 3rd Teacher Education Institutions Convergence and Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for Field Study and Teaching Internship held at Ynad’s Place Hotel and Resort from December 3 to 4, 2024.
The activity was graced by the leaders of the three education sectors in Region 1: Dr. Christine Nabor Ferrer of CHED, Dr. Tolentino G. Aquino of DepEd, and Dr. Joel Pilotin of TESDA.
In their messages, they underscored the critical role of collaboration in advancing initiatives that benefit both pre-service and in-service educators, aligning with the shared goal of nurturing future-ready teachers.
Dr. Jennie V. Jocson, Director of the Teacher Education Council, served as the keynote speaker. Her address highlighted the mandates and future directions of the Teacher Education Council (TEC), providing valuable insights on enhancing teacher education programs nationwide.
The event also featured a roster of notable speakers from various institutions and organizations, including Dr. Aurelio Vilbar of UP Cebu Pahinungod, Dr. Cherrel Ignacio of Union Christian College, Mr. John Cedric Pineda of Teach for the Philippines, Dr. Greg Pawilen of UP Los Baños, Dr. Dinah Bonao of DepEd Region 1, Ms. Maria Luisa Perez of Region 1 Medical Center, Dagupan, Dr. Mike Anthony Tan, Dr. Rosa Victoria Quinto, Professional Regulation Commission, Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal of Mariano Marcos State University, and Mr. Jeffrey N. Almazan of Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.
This convergence of leaders and experts underscored the shared vision of ensuring quality pre-service education, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships for the professional growth of educators in Region 1.
