Congratulations to the New Recipients of the Future Medical Technologist and Pharmacist Scholarship Program!

CHED ROI is proud to announce the names of the new MTP-SP Scholars for the SY 2025 – 2026. These eight ( 8 ) exceptional students are from the Urdaneta City University and the Mariano Marcos State University.
The MTP-SP aims to provide financial assistance to qualified and deserving students in allied and health-related programs and to meet the demands of the health labor market needs and existing frameworks on healthforce planning and equitable resource allocations.
The scholars upon passing the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) Licensure Exams, shall render one (1) year of mandatory return service per year of the scholarship availed from the government in compliance with the Universal Health Care Act.

CHED RO1 conducts Midyear Strategic Planning; aligns PPAs with SDGs and Chair SCA’s ACHIEVE Agenda

With the aim to reaffirm directions and reconfigure prirorities, the CHED Regional Office 1 employees convened for the conduct of the Mid-Year Strategic Planning for FY 2025-2026, at the CHED RO1 Conference Hall, on July 3-4, 2025.
The said activity sought to recalibrate the CHED RO1โ€™s efforts in delivering quality higher education and support broader goals of innovation, inclusivity, and global competitiveness.
Furthermore, the planning was highly anchored in the flagship framework (ACHIEVE) of CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis which aims to upskill Philippine Higher Education through Advanced Lifelong Learning, Centralized Human Capital and Talent Development Plant, Harmonized Research and Development Agenda, Integrated Data System, Expanded Internationalization Strategies, Vitalized Internal Systems, and Effective and Efficient Public Service.
Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director IV of CHED RO1 expressed her gratitude for the commitment and service of the personnel and discussed the ways forward for the Office during the Directorโ€™s Hour.
“Today, I want to talk about transformationโ€”not just of our systems, policies, or programs, but of ourselves. Each of us has the power to shape the future of higher education in the Philippines. But to do that, we must first transform our mindsets, challenge our potentials, and embrace bold, action-driven leadership. Letโ€™s ignite the fire within us and revolutionize the way we work, lead, and serve,โ€ Dr. Ferrer underscored.
Dr. Danilo B. Bose, Chief Education Program Specialist of CHED RO1 assessed the conduct of activities stated in the 2nd Quarter Performance Commitment and Accomplishment Report; Dr. Angelica shared the status of COPCs, Program Permits, and Recognitions; while Dr. Ricky Cera discussed the Projects, Programs, and Activities (PPAs) of the Office.
During the activity, attendees also reviewed the budget utilization, status of scholarship, procurement updates, eCAV implementation, and various MIS concerns and initiatives.
On the 2nd day, the participants presented their SDG-integrated and ACHIEVE-aligned outputs to the CHED RO1 top management.

RQAT evaluates BCAED application of UNP

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I, through its Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT), conducted an evaluation of the University of Northern Philippinesโ€™ (UNP) application to offer the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) program in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on July 3, 2025.
Dr. Cherrel Ignacio from the Union Christian College and Ms. Fe Ibalio of Mariano Marcos State University composed the team.
Guided by the provisions of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 18, series of 2017, which outlines the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for the BCAED program, the team assessed the institutionโ€™s compliance in key areas, including faculty, administration, library, curriculum, and facilities.
UNP officials, led by Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, welcomed the evaluators and provided support throughout the process.
Currently, only five higher education institutions in the region offer the BCAED program.
